Q’S About the Programme
Here’s a few A’s.
What’s a Delegate?
- “Delegate” is the term given to the Emerging Leaders participants.
- Let’s say your organisation is investing in you as their delegate or representative.
- Not only do you embark on a journey of self-discovery, but you return to your team with confidence, providing them with valuable information, strategies, and expert opinions on retail trends.
- Emerge from this course a confident, conscious leader.
What are the differences between the BRC Learning Programmes?
The Emerging
Leaders and Transforming
Leaders courses both cover the following subjects:
- The four themes of People, Planet, Profit and Purpose and their intersection in retail of the future (inclusive leadership, driving to net zero, circular economies, data-driven decision-making, etc.)
- Developing a conscious leadership style (self-awareness, fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging in your team)
- Developing great communication skills (the art of storytelling, structuring and presenting a business case effectively)
- Leading teams through ambiguity (understanding emotional reactions to change, practical models and tools for change leadership)
The following elements are course-specific:
Emerging Leaders (suitable for e.g. new /
soon-to-be people managers, those with less than 2-3 years of experience
managing people, or those in standalone functions wanting to build stakeholder
influencing skills)
- Teams that fit together (practical models and tools to help achieve great team dynamics, getting the best out of different individuals)
- Coaching for Performance (one-to-one coaching techniques and practice)
- Wellbeing (effective self-care, stress management, supporting your team’s wellbeing)
- Company strategy project (designing business recommendations for a major retailer, aligned to the Four Lenses)
Transforming Leaders (suitable for mid-level managers with 3+ years of people management experience or more senior functional leaders aspiring to take on senior strategic responsibilities / improve existing capabilities)
- Big data (data-driven insights into future retail trends, key digital capabilities for future business success)
- Business and the wider eco-system (community-centric retail, rethinking relationship to customer)
- Strategy Leadership Simulator (live competitive business simulation where teams make C-suite decisions to win market share)
How are the 8-weeks broken down?
- It is an 8-week blended programme.
- 3 day/2 night in-person residential at the very beginning of the 8-weeks.
- Followed by 3-4 hours of online content every Wednesday (live events online, on-demand modules, online workshops).
- The course ends in-person at Ashridge House for a 2 day/1 night residential.
What can you expect from the content?
- The BRC Learning team, group coaches, and top industry experts will lead you through the four main themes of PEOPLE, PURPOSE, PROFIT, and PLANET.
- The core content follows these themes through interactive live discussions, e-learning resources, and key-note speakers dissecting the key issues.
- You gain direct access to industry experts and are able to ask all your burning questions.
- Each small group has a Group Coach that was previously an Emerging Leaders’ delegate. They will facilitate group discussions and push your group to dive deeper into the course learnings.
- This programme includes a final group project. A retail company will present a brief of a real-life retail problem their company has faced. Your group works together to present your best solutions to an expert panel.
- And remember, there is no pass or fail. We are all here to learn, grow, and share ideas in a safe space.
What is included at the residential?
- Overnight accommodation: 5 days, 3 nights at Ashridge House Estate, Berkhamsted
- All food, water, coffee, and tea are included*
- Shuttle bus to and from Berkhamsted train station
